Unassuming multiplayer survival game
Longvinter is a premium role-playing game for PC developed by Uuvana Studios. It is an online multiplayer sandbox title wherein players will be building a home for themselves on a remote tropical island filled with hidden secrets and mysteries that are waiting to be explored and discovered.
Compared to other survival games like Valheim or The Planet Crafter, Longvinter is quite unassuming with its cartoonish art style and casual presentation. It also features some city-building mechanics for more varied gameplay, as well as a PvP mode to make the experience more engaging and interesting.
The island life
In the game, you play as an expeditionist who is assigned to travel to the titular Longvinter Island in order to research the mysterious location and find out what makes it so special. You'll start at one of the research camps on the island, and slowly build up from there. Explore a large sandbox world filled with various resources and hidden secrets just waiting to be discovered.
Speaking of nature, all the materials you'll collect along the way will help you craft tools and expand your base to support various things like a nice patch of farmland to grow crops to be more sustainable. You can even take your harvest and profit from it by selling it at the market. You can also trade items and knowledge you've discovered with other players online for the right price.
You are not alone in Longvinter, though, as there are other research expedition camps on the island, and you can choose to work together or steal from your fellow expeditionists. Before starting, just know that the game is still in early access, so more changes will come. Also, there are frequent server and connection issues that often result in disconnections to take into consideration.
Deceptively polite and harmless
When you first boot up Longvinter, you will be greeted with a rather friendly look and presentation that will make you think it's going to be good clean fun. However, as you go along, you'll realize there are sneaky things to be done and experienced, particularly with PvP, and that's one good thing about it. Here's to hoping that some of its issues get fixed soon.
